My Cars
My love for Volkswagens started when I bought my first one... a 1979 VW Rabbit GTI! It was love at first site when I saw the ads for this neat car with all the little cool trim pieces and sport seats. I progressed into a used 1984 Audi 4000S, which needed frequent work. I traded this in for a new 1987 Jetta GLI. This well-equipped car kept going and going until a new love entered my life. I had been keeping track of the Concept 1 Beetle and when it was finally released in the Spring of 1998 I knew I had to have one. I sold the Jetta, which had 346,000 Km. and was in pretty good shape. We were teary-eyed when the guy drove it off down the street, but there was some consolation knowing that the New Beetle was arriving in a few weeks.
In January 2001, I was offered a great trade-in price for Peanut at the VW dealer, and ordered the colour we wanted from the beginning, a Techno Blue NB with black interior! I decided to go for the turbo 1.8L engine, GLX, loaded with everything, including a REAL sunroof. It arrived the third week in April, and it's such a blast. |
MY OTHER NEAT CARS...
My other two cars are quite rare. The first is a 1956 Messerschmitt KR-200 convertible. The other is a 1959 BMW Isetta, the "Ultimate driving machine"! So, with these cars, and driving my New Beetle, I'm quite used to having people stare, wave, and/or scream when I drive around. Life is fun...
